In addition to my free shorts, I decided to include a bit of fanfiction on my site. Fanfiction often gets a bad rap in the writing community, but I think it’s a wonderful learning tool because there are plenty of important writing muscles you can work when you don’t have to worry about creating characters and locations from scratch, much like painting a still life instead of a brand new image from your mind.
